ECORYS Nederland BV is a Rotterdam-based multidisciplinary consultancy and research organisation providing services of the highest quality from an independent and knowledge-based perspective. As an operating company of ECORYS Holding BV, a group company comprising some 550 highly qualified staff, we closely co-operate with our colleagues based in fourteen branch locations in seven other countries to serve private and public clients worldwide.
 
ECORYS Water Management Group: Financial and socio-economic instruments for sustainable water management. The ECORYS Water Management Group bridges the gap between environmental engineering solutions for spatial and water issues, and the financial/economic feasibility and social desirability of those solutions. We have a broad and integrated set of skills, which include the capacity to combine (technical) environmental aspects and institutional, legal, financial/economic, spatial economic and communication components.
 
Broad range of skills
We offer our clients and partners expertise in areas such as financial and social cost-benefit analyses and economic instruments for sustainable water management. The Group's experts are also involved in establishing and advising institutes on integrated (international) water policy and management and in solving problems concerning spatial distribution. Assignments range from providing advice on the determination of the price of water, to financial and economic assessments of infrastructure and water-related spatial planning and transport projects. In addition, experts are regularly requested to facilitate complex policymaking processes, to carry out public information and awareness programmes, and to deliver training programmes.
 
The full policy cycle
Our services cover all parts of the policy cycle: problem identification and needs analysis, project and programme definition/specification, definition of alternative solutions, implementation of feasibility studies, institutional development issues, as well as monitoring and evaluation of projects and programmes.

Our research and consulting covers a wide range of water and environmental policy fields: water quality; waste water collection and treatment; drinking water production and distribution; flood control; flood risks and flood damage; water retention basins; recovery of natural river beds; environmental friendly investments and production technologies in the water sector; nature conservation and projects for improved management of rivers, coastal zones and wetlands; public private partnerships; privatisation of drinking water companies; economic instruments (pricing); spatial planning and use of space; harbour extensions; the development of nature and recreational areas; and, infrastructure projects.

The Group also works for public enterprises, utilities, interest groups, sector organisations, NGOs, and international organisations including the European Commission and the United Nations. Other important clients are international financing institutions, such as the World Bank and the EBRD.
