Comcoast pilot Perkpolder (The Netherlands)

ComCoast Pilot Perkpolder, Zeeland, The Netherlands

Since the Kruiningen-Perkpolder ferry has been taken out of service, the ferry port of Perkpolder has lost its status as a port. The municipality of Hulst intends to provide the area with new amenities to ensure that it remains viable.

ComCoast contributes to this project by developing innovative water control methods, which also offer scope for new amenities. ComCoast supports the co-operation between the parties involved and stimulates the communication with the local population. ComCoast develops ideas for a wide water control zone, which offers a variety of uses. Several ideas have been incorporated in the plan for Perkpolder, for example: an elevated Bastion with housing, hotel and marina and a buffer for the new sea dyke by means of a salt marsh.

In the summer of 2006, the draft design was presented to the council and the local population.
